Cooking instructions

1. Allow 2 lbs beef tri tip steak to reach room temperature for 30 minutes before cooking. Preheat the grill to medium high.
2. Prepare the dry rub: combine 1 tbs salt with 1 tbs black pepper, 2 tsp sugar, 0.5 tsp garlic powder, 0.5 tsp onion powder and a pinch of cayenne pepper.
3. Coat the beef tri tip steak with this mixture.
4. Grill the tri tip steak on direct heat for 6 minutes on one side, and 6 minutes on the other side.
5. Place the steak over indirect heat and grill until the internal temperature has reached 130° to 135°F. Allow to rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
