Cooking instructions

1. Heat some cooking oil in a large iron-cast skillet. Sprinkle some salt on the beef shoulder and brown it on all sides.
2. Add some onion and garlic cloves to the roast. Add 1 cup of beef broth, water, red wine or apple cider per 3-4 lb of roast. Add extra spices if needed.
3. Bring the preparation to a boil, cover the dutch oven and reduce to low heat.
4. Turn the beef shoulder to the other side every 30 minutes. Cook for 1 hour and 45 minutes.
5. When the meat is done, add chopped potatoes, turnips or carrots and cook an extra 40 minutes.
